Trump tweets multiple times, how he receives standing ovations from the Republican Conference yesterday. I mean…come on, they loved him, they really love him and it’s impossible to over-shower him with adulation when you think about it.
“So nice being with Republican Senators today. Multiple standing ovations! Most are great people who want big Tax Cuts and success for U.S.”
6:20 PM – 24 Oct 2017
“The meeting with Republican Senators yesterday, outside of Flake and Corker, was a love fest with standing ovations and great ideas for USA!”
6:30 AM – 25 Oct 2017
“Jeff Flake, with an 18% approval rating in Arizona, said “a lot of my colleagues have spoken out.” Really, they just gave me a standing O!”
8:33 AM – 25 Oct 2017
Here’s some actual footage of the “standing O” (not orgasm, it’s for ovation, ok? Who has a standing orgasm? That’s for heathens! Reminds me of my favorite joke I made for myself last week: Once upon a time, about twenty years ago, Jeff Sessions succumbed to lust most perverse and masturbated himself in the shower. He was envisioning screwing his own wife, missionary style. Come on, that’s funny. )
I couldn’t resist. Strange how much in common Trump has with the dictator. Difficulty reading, check. Grossly out of shape, check. Small hands, check. Demands adulation, check. Loves threatening people, check. If only Trump could have all of the unchecked power that Kim Jong-Un wields. /sigh.
I had mentioned on 10/11, that it would be nice for someone to come forward and actually claim that the emperor has no clothes:
“Post script: What really irritates me is the leaks out of this Whitehouse. Or more exactly, the people doing the leaking. So many leaks that make Trump look bad are corroborated from multiple sources within the administration, congress at large, and supporting staff. So many. All of these people are leaking out this daily stream of inside information for a reason. They want the public to know how bad things are. They are dismayed, they are upset, they are fearful. They want someone to do something…someone else, before there is irreparable damage to our nation. Isn’t it time one of these people put their fucking job in jeopardy to save our Nation? Isn’t there a goddamn one of them that puts Nation above self interests, outside of the rank-and-file career people that have come forward?”
What Jeff Flake did yesterday…was not what I yearn for. What he did was give license to the notion that, one in a position to do so, ought to speak their mind about what’s really going on here. I admire that, however, this is license no one requested and no one is likely to use in any particularly effective fashion. Everyone already knows what’s going on here, despite the fact that Congressional Republicans might or might not admit to it overtly. We already know.
Bob Corker’s approach thus far has been to scold the child and reward the child. He is acting more as a parent figure playing psychology with an unruly child.
Congressional Republicans could move further to declare “no confidence” individually or by small groups, and that would go much further to let the nation know that they stand with us and not simply with a congressional majority poised to steamroll ill-conceived legislation through Congress. That’s not likely to happen. what I would much more prefer, is for an administrative insider to come forward and say:
“Here is what the President is doing and not doing. Here are documented proofs. He is not concerned with the state of the nation, nor is he interested in furthering anything for our collective well-being. Trump’s only concern is for himself and here is the documentation as well as my recorded recollections to support these facts.” That’s how you risk your own career Jeff. That’s how you do it.
That’s what I want.
My Dad used to say, “Shit in one hand and want in the other. Tell me which weighs more.”
